Kachina Abeita is a Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner®. The Somatic door was swung wide open when she first attended a workshop with Moshe Feldenkrais in Dallas,TX in 1982. That meeting launched a full career of exploring movement to expand awareness, brain function & sense of self. She trained in the Feldenkrais Method of Somatic Education Professional Training® from 1984-1987 and completed Bones for Life Level 1 with Ruthy Alon in 2005.
She has maintained a steady practice of Feldenkrais Functional Integration® from 1988 to the present. She offers private lessons at the Dallas Yoga Wellness Center and is teaching Awareness Through Movement® again at DYC.
Kachina also embraced Iyengar Yoga in 1982, studying with George Purvis and many of the Iyengar Senior level teachers. She taught along side and later partnered with Fred Dowd to establish the Dallas Yoga Center. She attended teacher trainings with Ramanan Patel and Tias Little and most recently, the BMC Foundations in Embodied Anatomy course here at DYC.
When deeply called to explore a spiritual path Kachina was lead to travel regularly to Kerala in South India, where she studied Advaita Vedanta for over 25yrs, which indelibly shaped her perception of life.
An additional influence is from the study of martial arts with Grand Master Lee of Lee’s White Leopard School of Kung Fu and Tai Chi. Under his tutelage Kachina learned the profoundly grounding & empowering practices of Wu Style Tai Chi, Chi Gong & Bawgua.
