We invite yoga practitioners as well as leaders from various backgrounds to share writing and help make Yoga Modern a space that inspires, educates, and fosters community. We’re looking for thought-provoking and heartfelt writing that sparks dialogue through deep, introspective inquiry. We are not looking for simple solutions, superficial summations, or a shower of should’s. We are looking for heartfelt inspiration and ‘aha’s’ that are grounded in the real life challenges of modern living.
Pathways to contribute:
We offer two different avenues to contribute writing to Yoga Modern: either as a guest or regular contributing writer. Regular Contributing Writers submit at least one per month, have a featured profile on the website, and are given access to the backend of the website so they can create and format their own posts. Guest Contributing Writers can submit articles at their leisure, all of which will be posted to the website along with a small photo and bio by the YM editing team.
Submission Guidelines:
Your writing should express what is meaningful to you and extend from your own personal experience, not just puppet the ideas of well-known writers and thinkers.
We encourage you to write from a place of curiosity and discovery, not “this is how it is” or “this is how it should be.”
We are looking for original pieces that have not been published elsewhere already.
Each piece should pose at least one question to stimulate dialogue and encourage readers to join the conversation.
Articles should be about 500-1000 words (longer pieces should be broken up into Part 1, Part 2, etc).
Potential topics include (but are not limited to) yoga, culture, earth, health, philosophy, psychology, science, and spirituality.
Please include some information about yourself and a 500-1000 word sample of your work below. If your work is in allignment with Yoga Modern’s current editorial needs, we will contact you.
Thank you,
Yoga Modern
